Welcome

Hi, I’m Maddie. Thank you for taking the time to visit Dead Creative and find out about my end-of-life ceremonies and workshops. Below is a little about me and my approach that I hope you’ll find useful.

I'm a North East-based writer, facilitator and non-religious celebrant with a background in marketing and community engagement. I hold an MA in Writing Poetry from Newcastle University and a PhD in Film, Theatre and Television from Northumbria University.

I first became interested in pursuing a career in end-of-life planning following the loss of my lovely mum Sheri, who’s life was sadly cut short by cancer just two months before her 6oth birthday. Through writing her eulogy and navigating the logistics of planning her ceremony, I discovered that my creative and professional skillets are particularly well suited to celebrancy work. Six years later, I think about my mum every day and miss her more than I ever realised was possible. I also feel incredibly honoured to be able to use the warmth, openness and curiosity I inherited from her to support others experiencing the challenges of bereavement.

As a neuro-spicy person who sometimes struggles to process through language, I’m hugely empathetic to the fact that words aren’t always the best means of communicating complex emotions such as grief. With this in mind, my workshops are designed to faciltate relaxed and inclusive spaces where people can explore and connect with grief through practices that feel comfortable and meaningful for them.

Believing that money should never be a barrier to acheiving a thoughtful person-centered ceremony, I’m commited to accessible pricing and offer generous discounts for anyone experiencing financial hardship.
